A Landmark Achievement: Building India’s Largest E-Commerce Fulfillment Center for Amazon

In March 2024, the Skymettle office buzzed with excitement as the team celebrated a historic milestone—the signing of the Agreement to Lease with Amazon India. After months of relentless effort, Skymettle Infrastructure had secured the contract to develop what would become India’s largest e-commerce fulfillment center.

This wasn’t just another project; it was a defining moment for Skymettle. The challenge? Constructing a massive 430,000 sqft warehouse on a 22-acre land parcel, with Amazon’s stringent requirements setting the bar higher than ever before. For Skymettle, this was an opportunity to prove its capabilities in large-scale Industrial Spaces Developers in India.

The Challenge: Building at an Unprecedented Scale

Amazon’s vision was clear—a state-of-the-art fulfillment center that would serve as the backbone of its supply chain in India. The facility had to be designed for seamless operations, with durability, safety, and efficiency as top priorities.

Key requirements included:

  • Heavy-Duty Flooring – Capable of withstanding 50 years of constant use.
  • Advanced Fire Safety Systems – Ensuring the safety of over 2,400 workers at any given time.
  • Climate-Controlled Environment – Temperature regulation across the massive structure.
  • Robust Infrastructure – Roads designed to handle 200+ truck movements daily.

Engineering Excellence: The Numbers Behind the Project

The sheer scale of construction was staggering. Some of the standout features included:
35 Rainwater Harvesting Units – Utilizing Japanese technology for sustainability.
Solar-Powered Operations – 50% of the roof covered with solar panels.
28.57 km of Firefighting Systems – Compliant with international FM Global standards.
4,550 MT of Steel & 25,000 cum of Concrete – Reinforcing the structure for longevity.
TR34-4th Edition FM-2 Flooring – Ensuring durability under heavy loads.
Seamless, Insulated PEB Structure – Optimizing energy efficiency.

Speed Without Compromise: Delivering Ahead of Schedule

With a tight deadline, Skymettle mobilized a workforce of 1,000 professionals. Construction began on June 21, 2024, and by December 20, 2024, Amazon was able to start fit-outs. The facility was fully operational by May 31, 2025—a testament to Skymettle’s execution prowess.

A Testament to Teamwork & Vision

Looking back, this project wasn’t just about constructing a warehouse; it was about pushing boundaries. The success reinforced a core belief—when a committed team comes together, even the most ambitious goals are achievable.

Skymettle is proud to have partnered with Amazon on this landmark project. The experience has positioned us as leaders in industrial and warehousing development, ready to take on the next wave of infrastructure demands in India.
